Tilicho Lake Economy Tour Kathmandu

Tilicho lake is situated at the height of 4919 meter. The beauty of the Tilicho Lake is wonderful and the trail from Shree kharka to Tilicho base camp is amazing. The high rocks, landscape, Manang village, and Tilicho base camp are really attractive.

Tilicho lake is considered to be highest lake of the world. Tilicho lake is a beauty piece surrounded by high peaks from all the sides. There are many trekking options to Tilicho lake, but very few options are used as official route due to difficulty and high risk in the others. Many who take Annapurna Circuit also add Tilicho lake to their itinerary. However, you will need extra days to do it together. Our itinerary to Tilicho lake involves Annapurna circuit with two days excurion to Tilicho lake. 

This trekking similar to Annapurna Circuit begins from Besisahar. We will take bus from Kathmandu and directly arrive at Besisahar. From Besisahar, we will then walk towards village of Chamje, Bagarchapp, Chame, Upper Pisang, Manang and then to Tilicho lake. We will rest for a day before we reach Tilicho lake. After a day excursion to Tilicho, we will head down to Muktinath and join our Annapurna Circuit trek. 


Day​ ​01:​ ​Kathmandu​ ​to​ ​Besisahar
Set off by Tourist bus towards Besisahar(7hr), gateway to the Annapurna Circuit. Lunch on the way A long walk through Besisahar bazaar leads downstream, followed then by an ascent up a series of rocky steps. There are several more ascents and descents as the trail makes its way through sub-tropical forests and across the rice terraces of Sera. Further on, across a saggy suspension bridge over the Khudi Khola is Bhulbule. 


Day​ ​02:​ ​Besisahar​ ​to​ ​Manang​ ​(3540m)
After breakfast you will drive to Manang about 6 to 7 hours. Lunch on the way , The road is Gravel. Then drive to Manang takes about 4 hours. You will drive past beautiful landscapes and Mountains. Enter the upper Manang region, where the rainfall is much lower. You will notice much contrast with the landscape and vegetation; the cold arid climate creates a much harsher environment. This area is a fascinating mix of barren cliffs and exotic rock formations in contrast to the snow covered Himalayan peaks. You have entered another world; Manang Village is set at 3500m.


Day​ ​03:​ ​Manang​ ​to​ ​Tilicho​ ​Base​ ​Camp​ ​(4200m)
After Breakfast  at Manang we continue our adventure for Tilicho Lake, Lunch on the way from Manang one heads out through the western gates and then one follows the path down to the river. After crossing the the Khangsar Khola on the bridge below Khangsar and ascend the slope to the village, a village still in the old Tibetan style and which is also known as last village of Nepal.

Continue from Khangsar on a large path. Pass a Gompa (monastery). The route ahead goes on a recently constructed path up towards a high ridge. At one point is an intersection. One path maintains the altitude, traversing the slopes towards a place where the valley is narrow; the other continues to ascend towards the line of the ridge. The former is the old path, and is much more difficult as it goes on really steep screed; the
latter is the new path that goes a completely different way. Continue along the new path, reach a high crest, and descend on switch backs carved out through the screed slopes to a side valley of the main valley. At its bottom is a brook. On the other side of it is a building known as Tilicho Base Camp at elevation of 4200 meters.


Day​ ​04:​ ​Tilicho​ ​Base​ ​Camp​ ​to​ ​Tilicho​ ​Lake​ ​(4949m)
After Breakfats From Base camp to the Tilicho lake takes another 3-4 hours. Lunch on the Way Tilicho Lake is a cold barren place in the afternoon and claimed as highest lake of the world. After we spend some time around Tilicho Lake we will return same way back to Base Camp as there are no any accommodation facilities at Tilicho Lake area. 


Day​ ​05:​ ​Tilicho​ ​Lake​ ​to​ ​Manang
Early Morning Breakfast & Trek back to Manang on foot. Lunch on the way We stay in Manang on this day. Spectacular view of Glacier Lake can be seen from the Hotel.


Day​ ​06:​ ​Manang​ ​to​ Besisahar​ ​(Hot​ ​Spring)
After breakfast you will drive to Besisahar which takes about 5 hours. Overnight stay at Hotel.


Day​ ​07:​ ​Besisahar​ ​to​ ​Kathmandu
After Breakfast we head back towards Kathmandu, on the way Lunch ,&  the journey ends.
